Abbott Saves Hemp Industry—At the Last Second
Greg Abbott vetoed the Texas THC ban—just 3 hours before it became law.
Saved: a $2B hemp industry and hundreds of small businesses.
But don’t call it courage—call it calculated.
A short breakdown:
The bill (HB 3948) would’ve banned hemp-derived THC products like Delta-8.
Abbott called it “too broad” — really, it was too politically dangerous.
Texas voters overwhelmingly support cannabis reform (88%).
Killing this bill wasn’t bold. It was smart politics in an election year.
Legal weed? Not in Texas.
Legal hemp? Only if the Governor's poll numbers agree.
👉 Texas entrepreneurs deserve real stability—not 11th-hour vetoes.
👉 The cannabis fight in Texas is far from over.

The Road to World War III Is Paved with Ego and Bombs
Without congressional approval, President Trump launched surprise airstrikes on Iran. No debate. No vote. No plan.
This wasn't a surgical strike against a rogue actor—it was a provocation against a sovereign nation with serious firepower and a deep bench of regional allies. And now, the global powder keg is lit.
Iran has vowed retaliation. U.S. officials warn of attacks on American soil. Our troops are targets. Embassies are fortifying. Civilians—both abroad and at home—are bracing for the blowback.
And who’s standing with us? Not NATO. Not the EU. Not even our closest economic partners. We’re isolated, except for Israel—who’s itself facing internal strife and external threats. “Peace through strength” has become chaos through delusion.
At home, the military is stretched, the economy is brittle, and we are more divided than ever. This is not the moment for impulsive war. And yet here we are.
So we ask:
Is this really about national security—or just another distraction?
With Trump’s legal walls closing in, polls sagging, and scandals stacking, this sudden lurch toward war feels all too familiar. Could this be another “Weapons of Mass Destruction” lie? Another grand deception to mask domestic failure and line the pockets of war profiteers—just like Bush’s war for oil and contracts?
Let’s not pretend this is unthinkable. We've seen it before. And Congress? Too many are either asleep at the wheel or quietly complicit.
But the public isn’t fooled.
This is not strength. This is not leadership. This is a disaster in motion.
We must speak up. Push back. Demand oversight. Demand peace. Because if we don’t stop this train, we may soon find ourselves in another endless war—with no allies, no plan, and no exit.
And history, once again, will ask why we let it happen.

Call your Member of Congress: Demand a War Powers Resolution vote.
Write a letter to the editor. Share this post. Raise the alarm.
Show up. Because silence is complicity—and we’ve had enough war sold by lies.
The Great Unifier Who Divided, Promised Peace, and Delivered Chaos
by Mo Tanner
In his inaugural address the President said he was a peacemaker and unifier and that he quickly would end all wars. What has the great negotiator accomplished? The war in Ukraine grinds on with Russia showing no signs of stopping its aggression. The Gaza truce he negotiated quickly fell apart. Full scale war has broken out in the Middle East over the Iranian nuclear program. This weekend the President joined in that war without any authorization from Congress. There is a truce in the fighting between Pakistani and India, but India denied the President’s claim that he negotiated it.
The Voice of America is bringing back 74 staff persons the Administration fired earlier. Who would have thought that we might actually need to communicate with persons inside countries such as Iran?
EPA ended the requirement for coal fired power plants—the second largest greenhouse gas producer in the U.S.— to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. These plants actually are needed to provide base load for the grid. This requirement was intended to allow them to continue operating with the addition of new pollution control equipment. The EPA has now concluded this equipment is not needed as it was imposed as the result of a climate hoax. Along the way, it lost the rules regulating the emission of toxins, such as mercury. That will save power producers money. It is unlikely to safeguard public health, especially in areas near those plants.
After several starts and stops, we once again have a temporary truce in the trade war with China. That will last so long as the great negotiator doesn’t conclude that China is not living up to its end of the deal. In the meantime, small businesses are caught in a vice of rising costs and reduced demand due to the resulting economic turmoil.
The big horrendous tax bill does include some things that will help lower income Americans such as excluding tips and overtime pay from taxation. According to the Congressional Budget Office taxpayers in the top 10 percent of income would get a tax cut of $12,000 per year on average; those in the middle levels would get a tax cut of $1,000 per year on average. Those in the bottom 10 percent would see a tax increase of $1,600 on average. The President’s bill shows him to be a true friend of the working class.
VA bylaws used to provide that medical staff could not discriminate against patients on the basis of race, age, color, sex, religion, national origin, politics, marital status. Now, to comply with a new executive order allegedly aimed at transgender medical care, national origin, politics and marital status have been removed from that list. Don’t wear your CODA shirt when you go to the VA.
On a positive note, the President did condemn the shooting of two Democratic state legislators and their spouses in Minnesota. However, he did not call Governor Walsh to assure him of full federal cooperation in finding the shooter. Instead, he said he had nothing to say to the Governor. He also has not said that those who have a different view of good public policy are not enemies. Nor has he retracted his statement that it would be great if Governor Newsom were arrested.
